Description

This scroll was made in under four hours on site at King's Assessments 2010. Lady Ismey the Nimble and I sort of took it as a challenge to get it and the calligraphy on two other scrolls done in time for court - luckily someone else stepped in to help her with calligraphy on the scroll blanks while I drew/inked/painted this scroll from scratch.

I didn't really have time to be choosey, but I think it turned out pretty decently. It's based on a late 13th-century French Gospel Lectionary depicting Christ performing miracles.

I basically eliminated all of the figures, drew in a few extra architectural structures, popped the Silver Osprey badge in instead of the one little critter that was turning into the bottom border vines, and added a device in the top panel.

I had planned on making the shield be the Atlantian heraldry, but I honestly ran out of time before court. Now the recipient could have his own arms filled in, if he so chooses.

Done in acrylic and water color paint (that I mixed with the condensation of my iced coffee - yay combat scribing) and ink pens. Also a tiny touch of colored pencils, but only on the little background tiles, as I was running out of time before court.

Lady Ismey the Nimble did the calligraphy in about ten minutes, and it looks FANTASTIC.
